Name : Ronda Colvin-Leary Candidate For : Gwinnett State Court Judge Campaign Platform : I am running for Gwinnett State Court Judge because I believe the foundations of a strong society are based upon Family, Community and Justice. As a child, I was always taught to treat everyone right, no matter what. Being a mother of two, a wife and a small business owner, I am actively involved in the community and in tuned with the issues in the community. I believe in fairness and equality for everyone. Everyone has a voice and your voice deserves to be heard. I believe when the judicial bench has judges from different backgrounds, perspectives, education and experiences, you have fairer justice. I am aware that when a person is affected by the justice system, it not only affects the individual but also the individual's family. When the family is affected, the community, in turn, is affected. I am committed to community and dedicated to justice. Professional Career : For the last seventeen (17) years attorney Ronda Colvin-Leary has fought tirelessly for her clients in Georgia courtrooms protecting their rights. For the last eleven (11) years she has been in a successful private law practice in Gwinnett County. She is the managing attorney and her practice focuses on Criminal Law, Contract law, Juvenile law and Personal Injury. Additionally, since 2011, Ronda has currently served as Solicitor for the City of Winder. She is a former staff attorney for the city of Atlanta Municipal Court, former Assistant Solicitor for DeKalb County, and a former part time adjunct professor for the University of Phoenix. Ronda received her Juris Doctorate degree from Florida Coastal school of Law, Jacksonville, Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama. Ronda is a member of many professional organizations, as well as engaged in numerous volunteer and community outreach activities. She is actively involved in her church, she served on Snellville Middle School Media Advisory Committee (Member), Lawrenceville Lions Club (Member), Emory Druid Hills Rotary Membership Chair, Step By Step Recovery, Inc. (Board Member), Hosts Community Law Clinics, Decisions Determine Destiny Founder & CEO, 2015 GLANCE Gwinnett graduate, participated in Archer High School PTSA Youth Awareness Forum, Member of Georgia Bar, Member of Gwinnett Criminal Defense Bar, Motivational/Inspirational Speaker. Personal : Ronda was raised in a small town in rural Alabama. She is the oldest of 4 children. She comes from a long line of military servicemen, nurses, law enforcement, and grandparents who fought in the civil rights movement. Raised from humble beginnings, Ronda was taught core values of hard work, treating people fairly and strong Christian values. Ronda, who is currently running for a Gwinnett State Court Judicial seat, focuses her platform on Family, Community and Justice. Ronda is committed to community, dedicated to justice.
